Yesterday was the now traditional Tioga Venture cocktail. For the last 5 years, we have gathered our customers, partners and friends at the up and coming Enviedart galerie in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. Several guests just came back from Mobile World Congress in Barcelona where the mood was not very upbeat. Just to name a few, some of the companies represented yesterday include Microsoft, Cegid, Dassault Systemes, Trace One, Intercim, Netsize, Syniverse as well as many of the most prominent Venture Capitalists of France.
Julien Mazerolle, one of our partners, made a brief but inspirational speech on growth and where to find it. Building on some analysis we have developed in an earlier post, Julien argued that growth should be sought in springs and not wells. As shown by Ross Brawn in Formula One racing, disruption can yield much better return than incremental innovation.
I have just one regret, I was too busy networking with our guests and forgot to take pictures. We'll do better next year!
